Can you get your ears gauged professionally?

I really want to get my ears gauged, where do people get them done at? By a friend, by yourself, at a tattoo/piercing shop? Where did you get yours done? Or where does someone you know who has gauges get them done at/by? And what's the whole gauging process like? Does it hurt, How long do you have to wait to go up another size, what they you use to gauge them, is it easy to change them to a different kind of jewelry? And any other info that I should know.
