I have a question about the Ipad, I am considering getting my 10 year old one...?

My 10 year old is homeschooled, and we are kinda stuck at the computer desk for some of that time. I was thinking how nice it would be if she had a laptop..then thought of the IPAD. I have a laptop, and love it......would love some input from those computers BUFFS out there! Pros, cons, etc. Please help me with my decision.....PLUS, there are SO many IPADs, and I'm not sure which one to get. SO, should I get an IPAD...or should I just get a laptop......OR..should I just get an Itouch......geez, so much stuff, so little info......or maybe too much info, I'm overwhelmed! I also would like to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 on whatever I puchase. Thank you so much in advance for any and all advice!
