Installing agp Nvidia Geforce 256mb 6200?

i installed the card and evertything was good , the pc recognised it and everything. i used the disc and install the driver for the card, when it was finished it needed to reboot which i did and when the pc came on back it was running very very slow. my friend told me to switch it off and leave and tomorrow it will run better will this work or not..
